How does a Virtual Weight Management program work?
Once you receive your free online consultation with Dr. Sam and you decide to enroll in a weight management program, you will receive an email to set up a free consultation with Dr. Sam via secure video conferencing or over the phone. Based on your consult, Dr. Sam will design a program for you. If needed, he will prescribe you the appropriate medications to help with your weight loss program, which you will receive through U.S. mail. You will communicate weekly with Dr. Sam through the secure patient portal to discuss your weight loss progress, treatment plans and any questions/challenges you may have.
We also help patients qualify for weight loss surgery and support you after bariatric surgery to help you achieve additional weight loss and treat any weight relapse that may occur after surgery.
How much do the programs cost?
Please visit the Services and Programs page for descriptions and associated costs.
Who can become a Virtual Weight Management patient?
Anyone between the ages of 18-80 and a resident of the states of Michigan, Ohio, Florida and Texas can be a Virtual Weight Management patient. At this time, we are only licensed to treat patients in Michigan. We may obtain licenses to practice in other states in the future.
Does it matter how much weight I need to lose or my medical history and medications?
We help all patients, regardless of their weight or medical conditions. Whether you need to lose 10 pounds or 150 pounds, Dr. Sam will design a safe and effective program perfectly suited to your medical history and lifestyle. We work with your primary care physician and any other doctors to review any medical information necessary to make sure the program is safe and highly successful.
How much weight can I lose?
Your weight loss rate will depend on your size and medical history. Dr. Sam will give you a more accurate estimate during your initial free consultation.
How do I keep the weight off?
Our program will teach you all the skills you need to successfully maintain your weight loss. We also offer a weight maintenance program for patients who need additional support.
Will my medical insurance cover the program?
Medical insurance plans do not cover our programs, but you may be able to use your medical flexible spending account.
Do I have to eat frozen meals and protein shakes or bars?
Our weight loss programs do not include frozen food, and we do not require you to add protein shakes or protein bars to your diet. We do offer medical grade weight loss protein supplements to utilize if you and Dr. Sam agree it’s needed and appropriate. You can purchase these products directly from our website.
Do you prescribe medication?
Yes, we may prescribe appetite suppressants and other medications that can help you lose weight if we deem it’s safe and appropriate to the tailored weight loss program we design for you. You will receive all prescribed medication via U.S. mail.
How is Virtual Weight Management different from other online weight loss programs?
This is a unique program that offers you exactly the same services you get in a physician’s office. You receive physician interaction and support from the convenience and privacy of your home or office without the hassle of waiting rooms and travel time. We guarantee privacy, convenience and results that no other online program can deliver.
